New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry, in collaboration with the Ministries of Youth Affairs and Sports and Ministry of Defence is set to launch a youth-led mobilisation programme in efforts to eliminate tuberculosis.
Union Health Minister J P Nadda will lead the national launch of the programme tomorrow at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
According to the ministry, Joint Squad for Health (JOSH) teams will be rolled out across 55 districts in 11 states in the first phase of the campaign.Each team will be composed of Class-I officers, Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) volunteers and NCC cadets.
The teams will work at block, ward and community levels, to spread awareness on TB symptoms, prevention, timely diagnosis and completion of treatment, and address misinformation around the disease, the ministry added.
The launch will also see the release of new information, education and communication (IEC) materials for the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, and the unveiling of Khushi Avatar, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot meant to improve public awareness and community participation in TB elimination.
The health ministry emphasised the importance of community participation in the TB campaign adding that 67,933 panchayats across 697 districts were recognised as TB Mukt in in 2025.
