Chef Kunal wrote in his June 4 Instagram post: “While the internet is obsessing over the viral Banana Coffee from 7-Eleven, I couldn’t resist creating my own homemade version! Creamy banana, rich coffee, and the perfect balance of sweetness come together for a drink that’s refreshing, energising, and surprisingly delicious.”
Let’s take a look at his recipe:
Ingredients
- 2 ripe to overripe bananas
- Instant coffee powder
- Cold water
- Ice cubes
Method
1. Add two ripe (or overripe) bananas to a blender. Blend until you get a thick, smooth banana shake with a rich aroma.
2. In a separate glass, take instant coffee powder and mix it with cold water. Stir well until it dissolves quickly to make a light cold coffee.
3. Take a serving glass and add ice cubes to the bottom.
4. Pour the prepared cold coffee over the ice.
5. Gently layer the banana shake on top of the coffee.
6. Serve immediately and enjoy a creamy, refreshing banana cold coffee with a unique flavour twist.
A healthier twist on traditional cold coffee
Unlike traditional cold coffee, which often relies on added sugar, syrups, or cream for flavour and texture, banana cold coffee brings natural sweetness and creaminess from ripe bananas themselves.
This not only reduces the need for refined sugar but also adds fibre, potassium, and a more filling, wholesome feel to the drink. The banana blends seamlessly with coffee, softening its bitterness while still preserving its energising kick, making it a more nourishing and balanced alternative to conventional café-style coffees.
