NEW DELHI: People who suspect their mobile phones were targeted using Pegasus spyware have been requested by a Supreme Court technical committee to contact them and share all details.
The technical committee — a three-member panel supervised by former Supreme Court judge Justice RV Raveendran — appointed by the apex court in October last year has issued a public notice and set a deadline of January 7 for people to approach it with their complaints.
The Pegasus scandal had triggered a controversy last year and the Israeli spyware was believed to have been used to target Opposition politicians, journalists and activists.
The committee has asked citizens who feel that they are targets of Pegasus spyware to send an email. People who write in will also have to furnish reasons as to why they believe their devices have been infected by Pegasus spyware.
In case the committee feels that such suspicions require further investigation, it can request for allowing the examination of the device. The collection point will be at New Delhi. The committee will give an acknowledgement of having received the device for examination.
