HYDERABAD: A 45-year-old businessman and his wife immolated themselves after setting ablaze their 14-year-old twin daughters at Palvancha town in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Monday.
The victims were identified as Naga Ramakrishna, a Meeseva centre operator, his wife Lakshmi and their twin daughters, Sahiti and Sahitya.
While the couple and one of their daughters died, their second daughter is battling for life with over 80 per cent burns, Palvancha police said.
Police found suicide notes purportedly written by Ramakrishna in which he had reportedly mentioned that financial problems and pressure from people who gave money were the reason for the suicide pact.
Ramakrishna had also reportedly mentioned the name of a political leader’s son in the suicide note.
According to police, at around 3.30am they received a call on dial 100 about the fire at Ramakrishna’s house in Old Palvancha.
“The injured daughter of Ramkrishna managed to open the latch of the bedroom door and came out. Her dying declaration is being recorded,” police said.
