KOTTAYAM: Four Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) activists were arrested in connection with the murder of BJP’s OBC Morcha leader Ranjith Sreenivasan on Saturday. The arrested include two people who are directly involved with the murder. These two Alappuzha natives had gone into hiding in other districts, said police. The two were interrogated and many important details regarding the case was revealed, police added.
Another person, named Sharafuddin, 48, an Alappuzha native, was arrested for taking part in the conspiracy to murder Ranjith. The fourth person was arrested for arranging fake SIM cards for the accused persons. Meanwhile, BJP held a protest march to the district police headquarters in Alappuzha for the delay in the arrest of all accused persons in the Ranjith murder case.
BJP state general secretary MT Ramesh challenged the police saying that if they were not able to nab the accused in Ranjith murder case, BJP would get them if the police handed over the list of accused persons. “However, there will be some defects in their bodies. Police should take the responsibility for that,” Ramesh said.
