Court rejects Javed Akhtar’s demand for a non-bailable warrant against Kangana Ranaut

Recently, the court rejected Javed Akhtar’s demand for issuance of a non-bailable warrant against Kangana Ranaut in the defamation case.

The veteran lyricist had moved an application before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court (CMM) for issuing a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Kangana Ranaut. Today, the court has rejected his demand and gave a fresh date for the hearing in the matter. The tweet shared by ANI read, ”Court rejects the demand for issuance of non-bailable warrant against Kangana Ranaut; next hearing on February 1 at Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate: Javed Akhtar’s lawyer Jay Bhardwaj”.

In 2020, Akhtar had filed the defamation complaint before the Andheri court over certain statements made by the ‘Queen’ actress during a TV interview. He claimed Ranaut had dragged in his name while referring to a “coterie” existing in Bollywood, following the death actor of Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranaut recently wrapped filming for her upcoming movie ‘Tejas‘. She will soon be seen in films like ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda‘, ‘Emergency’, ‘Dhaakad‘, and ‘The Incarnation: Sita’.

The actress is producing the upcoming dark comedy ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’ under her production house, Manikarnika Films.
