Ranveer Singh starrer ‘83’ has recorded a huge drop in collection in its second weekend. Despite the holiday of New Year, the film failed to rake in the audience. This sports drama earned Rs 18.50 crore nett in its second weekend. According to boxofficeindia.com, ‘83’ recorded a drop of 58 per cent from the first weekend. This is a huge drop considering the film went from one holiday weekend to another, with Christmas and New Year.

Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘83’ is based on the Indian cricket team’s iconic victory during the world cup in 1983. Apart from Ranveer, ‘83’ also stars Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R Badree in pivotal roles. The collection of this sports entertainer has been massively affected due to theatres shutting down in Delhi and a rise in COVID cases across the country.

Post ‘83’, Ranveer Singh will be seen in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, wherein he is paired opposite Alia Bhatt. This Karan Johar directorial also features Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi playing pivotal roles. Speaking about the film Ranveer had told ETimes, “I would term it as a blessing. To be with such big icons and legends on the sets of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ is a huge honour.”
