There are 1,700 Omicron cases in India with 23 states reporting the new Covid-19 strain. Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state with 510 cases followed by Delhi, which has 351 infections.
The death toll climbed to 4,81,893 with 123 fresh fatalities according to the data updated at 8am.
The active cases comprise 0.42 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate is at 98.20 per cent, the health ministry said.
10,846 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,42,95,407.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.83 per cent.
The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 1.68 per cent, according to the health ministry.
